Le site de forage est situ\u00e9 sur le Little Dome C (LDC), \u00e0 environ 40 km du Dome Concordia, sur le haut plateau de l\u2019Antarctique. Le projet Beyond EPICA, qui consiste \u00e0 forer, collecter et analyser la glace, a pris environ 4 ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La machinerie de forage avait besoin d\u2019un abri qui pourrait fournir une protection contre l\u2019environnement polaire extr\u00eame et la capacit\u00e9 de faire pivoter le m\u00e2t de forage et d\u2019effectuer des forages \u00e0 carottes de glace lorsque cela est appropri\u00e9. Cela a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en personnalisant un abri standard pour inclure une ouverture de m\u00e2t de forage le long d\u2019une partie de l\u2019axe central de l\u2019abri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Jeudi 9 janvier 2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ils ont touch\u00e9 le socle rocheux de l\u2019Antarctique et remont\u00e9 1,2 million d\u2019ann\u00e9es d\u2019histoire de la Terre !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u2019est la fin d\u2019un ambitieux projet qui aura dur\u00e9 quatre ans&nbsp;: ce jeudi 9 janvier, l\u2019\u00e9quipe de chercheurs du projet Beyond Epica a annonc\u00e9 avoir enfin atteint le socle rocheux sous la calotte polaire de l\u2019Antarctique.
